In Memory of an Accreta Mom
Khristian Prestenbach Rahm passed away on May 20, 2019 from complications associated with placenta accreta. Khristian was from Thibodaux, Louisiana and leaves behind her husband Jacob, her son Owen, and her newborn daughter Ellie. Khristian was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend.

At 28 years old, Khristian was diagnosed with placenta accreta and placenta previa during her second pregnancy. Knowing that her pregnancy was high risk and that it could take her life and/or her child’s life, she continued under close care of her physicians. Khristian’s type of accreta, known as percreta, is the most rare and severe form of the condition. Her placenta was attached to the right side of her uterus and and moving towards her ureters (which were both on the same side since her kidneys had joined together on the right side), and growing towards her iliac artery. On Monday, May 20, 2019 (one month after delivery of her daughter), she lost her life due to complications following her scheduled hysterectomy.

Khristian loved makeup, skincare, reading and was a huge fan of the TV show Pretty Little Liars. Khristian enjoyed being a mother and would do anything for her sweet babies including sacrificing herself for her daughter. She was the kind of person who walked into a room and everyone knew she was there. Khristian will be missed by many but will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
As a friend of hers I am trying to not only raise awareness to her diagnosis but also raise money to help her husband who is now left alone to raise their family. I hope that her story helps other women.
