Volunteer Role:
Social Media Specialist
The Social Media Specialist volunteer role is responsible for the management and growth of National Accreta Foundation’s social media presence in alignment with overall strategies and organization direction. This is a great opportunity for an up and coming advocate to engage and build relationships with Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) patients, healthcare providers, other advocacy organizations, as well as gain a lot of visibility in PAS and maternal health communities.
The ideal candidate is creative and passionate about bringing awareness to placenta accreta and comfortable across multiple social media platforms. This role will have influence over the organization’s social media voice and the opportunity to drive and lead awareness and other campaigns. Ideal candidate has ability to work independently and is eager to learn, display and grow ownership over this aspect of the foundation’s presence. We are looking for a commitment of at least one year.
National Accreta Foundation is an entirely volunteer-run organization. The Social Media Specialist role will join this group as exclusively voluntary with no financial compensation, yet high ability to impact placenta accreta awareness and advance the foundation’s work.
Responsibilities
Create and schedule regular content across social channels. This could include social posts, tweets, status updates, stories, reels, photos and/or videos.
Have interest in creating graphic content or modifying existing templates in a user friendly design platform (we use Canva and can provide direction and training).
Collaborate with the greater team to develop communication plans that leverage the social media space, and help drive strategy and execution of these ideas.
Help create, manage and grow presence across social media channels, including Facebook, X, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Qualifications
Knowledge:
Although it is not a requirement to apply, we welcome working knowledge in planning, managing and executing social media initiatives and campaigns.
Interest in brand management and consistency as well as creative development.
Experience:
Prior professional experience in a social media role is not a requirement, applications from people who have experience and interest creating content for personal accounts will absolutely be considered.
Experience writing, editing and creating content for the social media space across multiple platforms.
Experience or interest in leveraging social media management and analytics tools.
Working Style:
Able to participate in larger group conversations about social media activities and direction and self assign actions.
Ability to work independently on baseline activities, seeking direction, advice and calibration from the larger team when needed.
Time Expectation: 3 hours per week
This is a fully remote role. There will be some zoom / virtual team meetings and trainings with mutually convenient times, otherwise this volunteer role is able to determine their own working schedule to meet deliverables.
